A Crisp and Insightful Day with Florette and Oliver Kay!

This week, our team had the absolute pleasure of attending an incredibly informative and engaging event hosted by Florette at Hockley Farm in Essex, showcasing the wonderful world of Florette lettuce. It was a truly "unFloretteable" day, packed with fascinating insights into how those fresh, crisp leaves make it from the field to our plates!

From understanding the meticulous growing processes of Florette's farmer-owned cooperatives to learning about their commitment to sustainability, we gained a newfound appreciation for the journey of this everyday salad staple. The team did a fantastic job of bringing the story of Florette to life, making the learning experience both educational and genuinely fun. We particularly enjoyed delving into the different varieties and their unique characteristics – it's amazing how much there is to discover about something we often take for granted!

A huge thank you to the entire team at Oliver Kay for inviting us to such a brilliant event. Your dedication to providing fresh, quality produce and sharing valuable knowledge truly shines through. We walked away not only more knowledgeable about lettuce but also inspired by the passion behind Florette.

Fun Fact: Did you know that the Romans actually ate lettuce at the end of their meals? They believed its naturally occurring, slightly bitter sap (which has mostly been bred out of modern varieties) had sleep-inducing effects! Talk about a natural nightcap!
